finally a moment to relax

Well….
…the year has definitly taken a while to get the hang of. We have a lot of new things being implied at work. And since I had decided to run in the Houston  Half-Marathon training before and after the holiday was not out on hold. But with all the traveling back and forth from home it was quite a chaellenge.
So the run was awesome..tons of people. I have to admit that’s the biggest run I’ve particiated in. So as I picked up my packet, walked through the fitness expo, and got my clothes ready the night before excitement and nervousness were my top emotions. Luckily I was running with my good friend Melissa, she’s the one who got me interested in running, and we actually have our beginning run coming up, the Rodeo Run…yay!
As for work things are finally starting to settle down as we start preparing for our standardized testing season. I always call it a season because we start testing and pre-testing until April. So are day is always changing…having meeting, not having meetings, changing meeting days…its crazy. The only really thing the has been constant is my spinning class. I still go like clock work on wednesdays, and have even started attending one at my gym (to get in same milege, since the weather has been off and on rain season). And when ever Debbie’s not racing she holds a core class at a community center downtown that I like to go to. But I am hoping the weather starts to get better so I can hit the bike before my next sprint-tri, which is at the beginning of march.
So that’s pretty much the gist…hope all is well=)

The count down has began=0

Today marks the official “last day before Christmas count down”. We have exactly one more week and the break begins…and like I said before I can’t wait. Even though I know the week will be busy, that’s what’s awesome..it always goes by fast. And we have early dismissal…yes!!!!!
It will also be the beginning of an exciting weekend…my close family friend, Lisa graduates from college on sunday and will began her quest to become a lawyer. So the weekend will be filled with lunches, dinners, and of course hitting the night life in downtown Houston. I think the fam starts coming down on Thursday, which works out perfect for me.
Because that mean I get to go to spinning class again before I leave. This weeks workout I thought was intense. Debbie had us doing sprints, and dang was the sweat drippin. Again it was a small group of us, in fact it was just us three, debbie, I think his name is jake, and me. Which works out good for me because debbie’s able to watch and correct my form a bit more. And i with our bike arrangement I was able to  better watch her cycle as she gave us pedals counts (I’m still learning the len-go, so  don’t laugh to hard if it doesn’t make sense).

Just can’t wait for the Holidays=)

My holiday season is off to a good start. Thanksgiving was a blast, not because it was filled with all kinds of things to do but because it was finally a time for me to enjoy the company of my friends and family. My mom was able to make the trip down to spend the day in Houston. As scheduled we left for San Antonio the following day. Lisa unfortunately was unable to join us because of ending school work and of course having to care for poor Larry. He has casts on both legs and crawls around on all fours, this will continue for a few more weeks until he just his boots. But the surgey seems to be a success and he should be playing flag football again in no time.
We arrived in san anton with plenty of time to eat and than watch the little parade they have on the riverwalk to introduce the lighting of the tree. Later we strolled through the streets headed for the alamo were i personally got the chance to knock on the front door…no one answered though=)
Once back to work the madness began again trying to get everything taken care of before the break comes. We have two weeks before we let out for Christmas and the suspense and excitement is definately in the air.
I’ll be going home for about a week and will be able to make it back right before the new year. I can’t wait, I haven’t been home since right before school started in the fall.

On an athletic note I went to my first spinning class last wednesday. I’m thinkin about making it a weekly thing. I meet Debbie (the instructor) at a local run about two weeks ago, she ran the 10K a wend I the 5 both did really well me landing first in my age group and Debbie just missing hers. The class was in a small “Rocky” like gym, the particiants included Debbie, her boyfriend and one of their friends. It was the perfect introduction to a new thing.

Can’t wait til wednesday…

Can you believe……

…..it’s been about five months since my last post.

Seems like I just blinked and the time just passed right by. But I’m back and better than ever, and don’t worry I’ll full you in on the past five months as the end of this year falls upon us and the beginning of a new one awaits, not all at once in same big novel. As for today, I have another day off thanks to my awesome job but along with the normal routine I have to fit in getting an oil change and picking my mom up from the airport. Yep, I finally got her to come down for the holidays=) Luckily she comes in, in the evening so the day will just flow by as opposed to the being pressed to do this and that and don’t forget about that. But I’m curious to see the airport on one of the busiest travel days.
Thanksgiving will be a little different this year since we’ll be in houston but we are spending it with same of our closet friends Lisa Aragon and Larry Stokes. And then on Friday it’s off to San Antonio where we will be meeting up with the Garibay family on the riverwalk.I would insert a pic but remember it’s been awhile sinc I last posted so I forgot how. I know that sounds horrible but it’s weird on this site sometimes it works smooth and simple but other times are harder or don’t work. Has anyone else ever had that happen to them?

Oh well, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving=)

Off to Rhode Island

Well my first long course meet went very well. I placed first in my age group for the 100 free and 100 breaststroke, so I was pretty excited. However with place in mind time is left out=( My time in the 100 free is nothing I could be proud of considering it was slower then my time last year. But I plan on changing that before nationals. Next it’s on to Rhode Island=) Earlier this year I appied to be a coach at the international scholars games and got accepted. So tomorrow I leave for ten days. I can’t wait.

Just a quick update now on to packing…

thanks for checking in,
lis

First Official Week Off….

Wooohooo..
It’ my first official week off and I’m so excited. Despite the fact that we finished school on the 5th, right after I had to pack for Cheer Camp. That’s right..we had camp in Huntsville, Tx at Sam Houston Universary. It was a great experience a little different than the last time I attended camp, mainly because this time I was a sponsor/coach rather than a cheerleader. The camp was fun and brought back alot of great, old memories. And opportunities…. our cheerleaders got a bid to nationals, which is awesome..this basicly means that if the train hard they will be able to attend NCA competition in December. For those for you who may be wondering what nationals is in cheerleadering, they take place in Dallas and Floridia and are shown on t.v.. Just think about the cheesy movies they make like Bring it On..the competition at the end thats Nationals!!!
As for me it marks the beginning of training. First up is a swim meet this coming weekend. This will be the first long course meet of the season followed by two or three in july, ending with my sprint triathlon in August. Now the swim and run training I think I got covered, but the biking is a whole other story. One reason is because I don’t have a bike that I would fill comfortable riding in a race…..So the search for the bike is on. Luckily I have Aaron either than how pretty it looks, I would have no idea how to shop for one, but he’s got some knowledge in the matter.
But now it’s time for me to relax by the pool, read some magazines, and start putting things together for our wedding=). My trip back home is also coming up so we would like to have as much figured out so when I go home it’s just a matter of confirming dates, places, all that jazz.

Thanks for keeping in touch.

Have a great Monday!!

After all is said and done….

……I definately have butterflies in my stomach.

Well the tide has settled, testing came and went at work, Aaron’s 90% review ended with success and testing of his machinery will hopefully be in Hawaii some time in November=), and my birthday was nice and peaceful. With all these major events out of the way it opens my eyes to the upcoming months which excite and frighten me at the same time.

To start with Aaron’s younger brother graduates from UNM this weekend so he’ll be making the trip down. Since school’s still in session and with my added position as Co-Cheerleading Sponsor we decided that Aaron would make the journey back home now and I would go in the summer. So yeah…cheering sponsor…I don’t know. I grew up doing it so I think I can be some help. It was a hard decision through, towards the end of the school year you start hearing about positions that are opening, ending…etc. And there was also a Head Swimming Coach position avaiable but it was at another school, so I would have had to leave, which just did not appeal to me.

Next, with being co-sponsor this means that camp is just around the corner, and it just so happens that your camp is the week after school lets out. Which is awesome because summers here are crucial,  then Rhode Island (I was accepted as a swim coach for International Scholars Camp).

But after that the summer slows down with plenty of time to kick training into high gear before the Ironbabe Sprint trialthon in August. Luckily with both camps they’ll be time to run and swim, biking is what worries me, but that’s why I’m starting with a small race. Even through it’s a different race I’m using this to help me for the half-maralthon that melissa and I are running in the fall (pending Aaron’s testing). Once Melissa got me running the 5K in March I kinda got hooked and after my open-water swim I think I’m riding to venture a little more.

It’s all so exciting and frightening at the same time=O

I’m Back=)

It feels like forever since the last time I posted a blog. But things have been pretty crazy and busy. For starters my March Madness Meet went good. I found my race to be the 100 IM. So now I’m working at that, however I got out touched in the 200 breat so that wasn’t very fun=( . Which means I’m also working on pull-outs and leg strength.
Sorry i would try to figure out how to fix the pic. But nay! So after that I got some awesome news, I’ve been teaching for a couple of years now and I finally got the certificate I wanted. I got my composite science 8-12, this means I can teach any type of science class in high school. It also means that I’m eligible to teach Pre-AP and AP. Since I don’t plan on switching careers this is great because got gives me excellent flexibility and opportunity…yea=) Shortly after recieving the good new Aaron and I went on a camping trip with our friends from the complex.  We all had a great time, rode the rapids, cliff jumped, and cooked smores over the camp fire. What more could you ask for.
Now as we were doing all this stuff during the weekends we both were about to get swamped at work, plus Mark was coming down to visit Texes AM. He’s thinking about getting his masters there. But things went well, Aaron’s 65% review went well and our TEA visit at school went smoothly. Mark come and went, he and Aaron went up to the school Thursday night for Mark’s Friday appointment. So they got a chance to scout the town. Once they got back we took him to one of our favorite restaurts by the water called Outriggers. It’s a nice place to eat, talk, and watch the boats go by. We also rode the brand new roster in Kemah.
And my family friend Melissa works for the Astros, so she got us tickets to go the game  that Saturday Mark was town.  By this time things at work started getting crazy for the both of us again, aaron now had his 90% reveiw coming up and me with our testing time. But we still managed to have savage the weekends, Aaron had been wanting to go to a Rockets game for the longest time. So the chance to go to the Rockets first play-off game came up and I knew I had to take it. The game was fun, they lost, but I had never game to a professional basketball before and Aaron, like I said, had been dying to go.   And no we’re really not that dorky, they were giving away free shirts=)  This was just about a week ago but during this our  wireless stuff stopped working and we really didn’t rush to get it fixed. Only because then we both knew that even though we left work, we could be doing work at home and all we really wanted to do was rest. We picked it up a notch when my open water race came up this weekend. Now since this was going to be my first open water swim  I entered in the 800 swim.I did pretty well, I got first in my age group with a 15:25. And I thought that was pretty cool. Now I know you’re ready to quite reading but before you do I’d get like to take a minute to beg about my Aaron. He is truly a great guy, how many people do you know that not only wake up with you to attend this places but how many do you know who will do that in the rain. That’s right this morning I woke up and the entire way to the lake I was telling him, “they’ll cancel, they’ll cancel. And his only response was “why it’s not like were not going to get wet anyways”. And i know that sounds stupid but he was willing to stnd in the rain to watch me compete. And he was there to get my head straight when I started freakin out. I just think that is so awesome. Luckily it stopped  raining before the race begin and it hadn’t been raining like cats and dogs.
And now I’m here at home getting the apt. ready for the week and Aaron’s at work because his reveiw is later this week. As for me testing starts this week which sucks not only because testing sucks but because my birthday lands during testing. Which is just not how you want to spend a birthday, whether you’re taking the test or not. So I’m counting down the days until the weekend.
Well that about wraps it up for know, thanks again for bearing through my novel=)
